Nov 30, 2014 · It said some version of "IFS, for those who enjoy long quiet walks back to the pits.". Not that I'm the expert, but from my reading it does seem that most agree -- the current limitation with IFS when it comes to travel, radius and reliability is the axle/CV.

There was one other advantage to solid axle over IFS that I didn’t mention earlier – cost.

Sep 19, 2015 · Most IFS cars right now are setup with the front suspension jacked way up for clearance reasons which has a large effect on the roll center, and this also doesn't allow for much droop travel. This new IFS will have 4"+ more clearance under the ring gear than my current IFS car without sacrificing the geometry.

Mar 12, 2014 · The overall consensus from Ultra4 racers is that IFS gives you the upper hand through the desert while solid axle is an advantage in the rocks. Nothing can beat the way independent suspension absorbs uneven terrain at speeds upwards of 100mph.
