May 27, 2024 · I’ve had the sync box for years and been loving it. Last year I got a Samsung Q90B Which supports HDMI 2.1 and 120 Hz refresh rates for current console gaming. I have my TV, game consoles, Apple TV, Hue Bridge, all hardwired on my network with gigabits speeds.

Jul 31, 2021 · This is the correct answer. I do this with my Sonos Beam soundbar. The Hue Sync is using a different HDMI port on my TV. The Hue Sync switches between my AppleTV, Chromecast, PlayStation, and Xbox and can process their outputs with my Hue Gradient strip and other Hue lights in my chosen Entertainment Area. Everything works great.

This is evident from the fact that Ambilight is discontinuing “sync with hub” functionality. It’s evident from their decision not to release a next gen sync box.

Dec 11, 2019 · Performance hasn’t been an issue for me, but Hue Sync does break Gsync in most cases if I don’t run in borderless or windowed. Exclusive fullscreen in almost all cases, the hue sync overrides Gsync and the two won’t work together. Switch to borderless and it often allows both in tandem. Something to keep in mind.

I know there are ways to control hue lights from within Ubuntu or other distro‘s, however I don’t know if there is any way to sync colors to the screen. I might look into writing an app. The easy part is controlling the lights, the hard part to me is capturing screen color…
