Oct 1, 2009 · The XR650L and later XR600Rs have an auto-decompressor and an anti-kickback mechanism on the cam. Some aftermarket cams don’t have this so if you changed out your cam, you may need to add a decompressor. I was relieved to find out that the auto-decompressor on the XR650L cam was sufficient to allow the bike to kick over.

May 29, 2015 · I just finished Dave's mods yesterday -- Honda XR650L, carb (5/32, .025 needle shim) with mixture at 2 1/2 turns, 55 & 160 jets, smog removed, FMF Powercore exhaust, De-snorkeled, K&N filter I was already using. My first time to do stuff like this; especially, the carb.

Aug 16, 2020 · Not everyone is able to get a DynoJet kit to work right. There is no way I would put one in an XR650L. You want a 55 pilot and either a 155 or 158 main jet. Use Keihin jets. You don't need to drill the slide, that just makes it open a little bit quicker. I didn't drill mine and have never felt the need to do that.
