Jan 29, 2024 · The hinges on my 68 Charger are a little hookie but not too bad yet. You may luck out finding a decent used pair from a low mile car. If you send them out for rebuild, I know there are a couple other shops out there but I would expect to spend more money these days with everything seems like prices have doubled since the Covid years.

Mar 11, 2024 · Right now I have no springs on the hinges at all. The springs do two things, they hold the hood UP and then they pull the back corners DOWN so the hood fits flush at the rear. With no springs you have to push the back down after closing the hood.

May 21, 2020 · Another reason for those "kits", they are not factory for sure, on 62-65 hinges is that the door side hinge half is hardened like plate steel and can't be drilled with standard bits and reamers. I have to use solid carbide drills and reames to rebuild these hinges properly. Most people don't know that and will ruin a few bits to find out.

Jan 5, 2015 · The instructions in this kit are top notch. I cannot say enough good things about dealing with Rick. I started by taking a few pictures of the hinges to make sure they go back together in the same configuration as they were prior to the rebuild. I began the restoration process by driving the pin out of the hinge.

I measured two reference spots to the floor in cm; one at the latch start wheel and the other the lip of the door bottom about halfway. Used the idiot proof tool and got really close on my first attempt.

Jan 5, 2025 · On the project New Yorker we took off and put on the hood a few times. It was just insurance for the glass/paint against fumble fingers. Carry that bastard from the front, lift over hinges, one arm it to put in bolts because two 250lb dudes can't occupy the same space

Mar 21, 2017 · I used a washer behind the trunk arm and the shaft it slides onto. the washer pushes it over and will line up the trunk lid. unfortunatly u have remove the trunk to remove the arms safely, which opens up another whole can of worms, I would give it a quick firm shove in the direction you want it to go then check, alot, lighter pressure then more to achieve the gap change, don't push too hard ...
