Aug 13, 2020 · The SMG would fit into the modern role of Personal Defense Weapon (PDW). PDWs are issued to personnel who need something more than a handgun but issuing a rifle would be too much. In modern terms that would be artillery crews, officers, etc. In Halo they would be issued to naval ship crewman, vehicle operators, etc.

Then you have to balance each of those weapons. Halo 5's biggest issue was insane amounts of redundant weapons that all do the same thing, to the point that they should have just cut two of the three and left one that was the "intended" one. Take the DMRs for example. Carbine is fast ROF, lower accuracy, low damage. DMR is all-rounder.

Apr 3, 2015 · The Halo 5 SMG was godly at close-range, and I loved it. It was a great secondary to have when you grabbed a Sniper Rifle since it took care of all your close-range needs. The H5 AR was also a great weapon, but I preferred to carry a Magnum + Tier 2 Weapon.

Aug 26, 2022 · In Halo 5 the SMG is singular and is really good. It is basically what you describe, shredding people faster at close range than the AR but with a lot of recoil an inaccuracy at range. Its effective range was still pretty good though.

The M7 still uses the 5x23mm caseless ammo, it's only the M20 from Halo 5 that uses cased rounds. The UNSC wanted the new SMG to have better performance against energy shields and body armor, but the M7 is still more common in service apparently.

Sep 9, 2018 · Specifically regarding Halo 5, the only game with all three. There's a lot of overlap with these weapons, and I'm curious to know how everyone uses each one. I very, very rarely use the SMG in either Arena or Warzone. The AR is almost as good as it at close range, and much, much better at medium range.

MP5-30 rounds//M7 SMG-60 rounds US service SMG APC9K-30 rounds//M7 SMG-60 rounds Russian service SMG Viyatz PP19-30 rounds//M7 SMG- 60rounds The mag size of the M7 easily outclasses any other modern weapon, by a pretty wide margin.
