Halo 3 is awesome. its kinda apples and oranges. they arent really similare enough to compare very well. both are great games. halo 3 has matchmaking. odst doesnt. thats the only downside if you can even consider it a downside. but odst has firefight, and its GREAT. similar but different. gotta play them before u can really say.

Mar 17, 2013 · Story-wise, ODST happens before Halo 3 but is not the core story of Master Chief like the other Halos, it's its own story with its own characters. Basically, if you want a more traditional Halo game that follows Chief's story, go for 3, but if you want overall story progression and don't mind the difference in play style, go for ODST.

I'm not sure of the exact time afterwards that Halo 3 takes place, but it is at least a month after when master chief leaves earth and all of the events in ODST.

Nov 9, 2022 · Based on what we know of the ODST armor Halo 3 and on, the Halo 2 ODST are wearing an older variant of the armor. The modern ODST helmet is an offshoot of Project Mjolnir. The Halo 2 variant is presumably from before the Project Mjolnir variant.
