Sawlaram Lakshman Haldankar (1882–1968), also known as S L Haldankar, was a well-known Indian painter. Haldankar was born into a family from Sawantwadi, which was then a Princely State and is located today in Maharashtra state. He showed early talent in the arts and this was noticed by the headmaster of his school in Sawantwadi.

Sawalaram Laxman Haldankar was born on 25th November, 1882 in Savantwadi, Maharashtra. He studied at the Sir J.J School of Art where he trained under Cecil Burns and M. V. Dhurandhar. He distinguished himself quite early in his career and secured prizes and medals for exhibitions held in Madras, Bombay and Simia.
