Howl's Moving Castle[a] is a 2004 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It is loosely based on the 1986 novel Howl's Moving Castle by British author Diana Wynne Jones. The film was produced by Toshio Suzuki, animated by Studio Ghibli, and distributed by Toho.

Howl (ハウル , Hauru) is one of the main characters in the film, Howl's Moving Castle. He is an exceptionally talented wizard reputed to be the thief of young women's hearts. He was once a disciple of the royal court's great wizard, Madam Suliman. [1] . He was voiced by Takuya Kimura in Japanese and Christian Bale in the Disney dub.
