The MP5 is primarily aimed at police units and first response forces engaging area targets. Easy to handle, easy to control and uncompromisingly precise in an emergency. The MP5 SD, on the other hand, fulfils the weaponry requirements of specialised forces and selected special units.

The MP5SD 9x19mm integrally suppressed submachine gun was developed in response to the special requirements of special operations forces. The MP5SD has an integral silencer which still has the same length and general shape as an unsilenced submachine gun.

Nov 13, 2020 · Shortly after introducing the MP5 submachine gun, Heckler & Koch added an integrally suppressed model to its line at the request of special operations forces. It was called the MP5SD, for “shalldampfer”, or suppressed.

S&H added "MP5SD" marking on top of the receiver and the Heckler & Koch Chantilly, Virginia address on the right side of the magazine well. The grip is right handed with the aforementioned markings on the trigger group, with a round, ribbed forearm and a telescoping buttstock.
