Jan 3, 2014 · Only the G28 has steel uppers, 417 has aluminum. The 417 and G28 also have chrome lined barrels (hence the lower accuracy). As far as I know, the barrel profiles are the same.

Sep 27, 2018 · The 417/G28 buffer tube is larger in diameter than the 416 buffer tube, which means that 416/AR stocks won’t fit on a MR762/HK417/G28. A regular HK417 stock should fit on the G28 buffer tube. The tubes are the same size, the G28 tube just has an extra groove for the cheek rest of the G28 stock.
