He spent months and months training non stop with Goku and achieved SSJ1 bordering on achieving SSJ2 and just needed an extra emotional push like Goku did when he first became a Super Saiyan.

Jul 4, 2016 · Gohan could have ended it effortlessly if he transformed into SS2. It can't be an art mistake because in the entire arc AT made sure to signify SSJ2 with slightly different hair and electricity.

Jul 12, 2021 · My view is that SSJ2 Gohan was stronger than Super Perfect Cell. Cell was initially able to fend off Gohan because Gohan was tired, demoralized, and injured (broken arm). However, once Gohan went all out (and Vegeta distracted Cell), Gohan was able to overwhelm him and destroy him with one blast.

To many of these people, this is arguably Gohan's lowest point in the series, and they'd likely claim that Gohan was more badass in the Namek arc than he was here. Personally, I don't think SSJ2 Kid Gohan was the furthest thing from badass ever, but I also think that he has some pretty anti-badass traits in him.
