I've seen a lot of discussion regarding Gale's character, including his desire to redeem himself after his debacle with Mystra, or his desire to claim the Crown of Karsus to achieve godhood.

If your Gale is set on God path after his act3 quest, you wouldn't be able to change his mind. Roll DC or not, it doesn't work. Also don't mind commenting on my old posts. I check my guides regularly and answer the best I can!
