Sep 3, 2018 · Standard milking does in milk I work up to 4-6 cups of oats. Gretel is doing good on 4 cups. Mini milking does I do 2 cups. Then for the main herd, I feed a 2 quart scoop of oats to the herd of 20. So they each get like a quarter cup probably. lol But I think oats have made a big difference in our herd.

That being said I mix my own feed using either whole oats or crimped currently I am using whole oats. The recipe is 2 parts oats, 2 parts barley, one part black sunflower seeds, one part calf manna.

Feb 9, 2023 · When in milk those does get oats and boss (black oil sunflower seed) on the milkstand. We used to mix Barley, Oats, BOSS, and Beet Pulp. SOmeitmes I'd add calf manna if needed. Slowly there would be supply issues or I had to go to 2-3 different feed stores to get what I needed. So I slowly dropped things here and there until I got to Oats and BOSS.

Oct 24, 2012 · We feed our does, buck and wether a mixture of rolled crimped oats, alfapha pellets and black oil sunflower seeds (40% ,40% ,20% repsectively). No goat feed. This way we don't have to worry about unriary calculi in our boys. They also get a tablespoon of loose goat minerals with their evening ration.

Jan 10, 2012 · Whole oats don't require crimping, however crimping can get you more out of your oats. Mine get whole oats and if they don't get them, believe me, there is a difference. So they have to be absorbing them. Ive bought crimped and didn't think they were better, and seemed like there was extra chaff. My goats like whole better.
