In Mother 1 + 2, it is actually possible to defeat Giygas outside of the scripting by poisoning him. Doing so earns no experience points and ends the battle as if it was normal.

Mar 16, 2022 · My advice: strap everyone with Super Bombs, and keep using them to deal damage to HAP/Giygas' first phase, using Ness' PSI Lifeup Ω to keep everyone afloat, or PSI Shield Σ/Ω if you managed to save enough PP on Paula from the Starman section.

In this form, Giygas is invincible -- his shield will deflect your attacks. He's also fond of PSI Rockin' α and β, so have Paula create a Psychic Shield Σ, the one that absorbs psychic powers but doesn't reflect attacks. To best this form of Giygas, the key is to focus on Pokey.

Jul 17, 2009 · Many people get confused on how to beat the final boss, Giygas. He's simple really. Beat Pokey at the begining, then attack Giygas until Pokey comes back to mock you some more. After that, use Paula's Prayer option 9 times. Don't stop if you think you should. After that, he should be defeated. Just remember to keep Paula alive to defeat him.

The only way to defeat the final stage of Giygas is by using Paula's Pray command. She must pray a total of nine times during the final stage of the battle. The purpose of everybody else in your party for this stage should be to keep Paula alive.
