Mar 27, 2007 · The Gen blocks use longer main cap bolts than the Mark blocks. The crank on the Gen engines uses one long key in the keyway slot for the cam drive gear and the damper - the Mark cranks have two short keyway slots and two seperate keys, one for the cam gear one for the damper. As he stated, Gen cranks are one-piece seal, Mark are two-piece.

Nov 29, 2010 · Yes, the Gen6 cam bolts into a MK IV block with no issues. In fact, its the way to go. You need a Gen 6 timing set, which comes with the retainer plate and bolts to properly retain the cam. Your block should have 2 tapped holes on the block for this already.

Gen 6 has a plastic timing cover that's held in place by 6 bolts, may or may not have provision for fuel pump (crate engines had 'em, production engines didn't). Original valve covers will be cast aluminum.
