She is new to the sport and we will be doing some long trips this summer so we are looking for reliability. I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks of these different bikes.? That's a Profile Design adapter stuffed into the threaded fork so no one has to worry about that. I de-ano'd the stem and will probably paint it white. Replaced all of the bolts with titanium

The Deore LX group was a good performer. It's a solid, well designed model, in the lower mid-range. Due to the more rigid triple triangle design, GT was able to mount the very powerful U-brake on the seat stays, instead of the typical location under the chain stays, resulting in easier maintenance, without any loss of braking efficiency.

I'd been eye-balling this rolling frameset for about 7 months on Facebook Marketplace. The seller had it priced pretty high as the bike market is booming in Northwest Arkansas. I ended up taking this home for $80 bucks which I was happy with. The frame started life as a 1985 Nishiki Riviera GT and it's in excellent condition.
