The passenger GE's only lasted 13-14 years on Santa Fe, but the B36-7's would only last 10 before going back to GE! > They ALL wore their "as delivered" > "Red and Silver Warbonnet", "Blue and Yellow Pin > Stripe" and "Yellowbonnet" schemes. From what I can find, only two U30CG's got the pin stripe blue and yellow scheme, 8000 and 8004.

The U30CG was produced in brass by Hallmark and much later by Overland. Santa Fe had six of these originally for passenger service and then they moved to freight service.

The U30CG's seldom fell victim to the silver overspray often seen above the stepwells on the red and silver FP45's. One wonders if the painters only took the time to retouch the silver on the power of the Super Chief/El Capitan, which the big GE's almost never pulled even when new. Edited 1 time (s). ATSF freight with GE U30CG #8002 -- Dec 76
A few miles south of Temple Tx on the Santa Fe Southern Division was this freight with a surprise in the consist - ex passenger GE U30CG #8002. I quickly took a couple of grab shots since I didn't see these units very often. They would all be off the roster by 1980.
