Apr 27, 2022 · The frog eye sign is seen when the orbital structures show a characteristic protrusion due to fetal anencephaly. The term is particularly used in point of care ultrasound (POCUS) 1. On obstetric ultrasound the frog eye sign is best appreciated in the coronal plane (in relation to the fetal head).

The “beret” sign is visible in the midsagittal and frontal section, which is a perfect complement to the bone ossification assessment of the cranial vault and seems to be a promising tool in the diagnosis of acrania.
