Jan 21, 2020 · Yeah, once I gave up the notion that every floor tom should be the biggest sounding floor tom, tuning them became a lot easier! My 16 is still plenty low, but it's not the lowest tom on the kit so it doesn't make sense to tune it that way. The 16 and 18 have a proper fourth between them.

Aug 17, 2023 · I love experimenting with tom tuning and I did the same as you this afternoon on a 14x10 floor tom - med-low batter with a super high reso both coated ambassadors. Fat with short sustain when wide open - internal mufflers and moongel made it tabletop dead though.

May 10, 2020 · I currently use DW aluminum floor tom legs on all my kits with great results and see no compelling reason to switch. The DW foot design offers fantastic spring-like suspension for floor toms with far less mass clamped to the shell.
