Jan 22, 2019 · On the negative side if you are sitting in a tree stand there are better things to wear under your Filson, like a heavy wool sweater or 200 weight polar fleece jacket or a vest of the same material. I have not seen the current crop of Filson wool or moleskin vest liners but if they are suitable for wearing out of the coat so much the better.

Jan 9, 2025 · My dad has the Filson summer packer hat for cooler days and rain, but he prefers a breeze hat for summer (as do i). We live in humid regions of Texas. A packer hat might be fine in dry heat, but almost any solid hat is too hot in humid heat.

They make a range of overpriced hipster crap including watches, bikes, and coming soon, eyeglasses. Go figure. His stated goal for Filson is to make it into another Burberry.

Feb 28, 2019 · Lucky dog to be issued Filson gear! I've got a tin packer coat with wool vest liner that's 20 years old. I sent it to Filson once and they patched/repaired holes worn in the sleeves. Also have a mackinaw wool vest, tin cloth vest, a packer hat and a med twill duffle bag. The quality of their products is amazing but the current prices, whew!

Dec 3, 2018 · I purchased a double Mackinaw wool Filson cap many years ago and thought they ran on the small size, at least the XL seemed to be on the small size. Might check around on a few Alaskan sites, as there are a few people trapping and making trapper hats from Lynx, Beaver, Wolf and maybe Wolverine.

Feb 28, 2019 · Among several other Filson garments, I have four of their Northwest Wool shirts. There is a big difference in the fabric between my three older ones and the newest one. The older ones are made of 100% wool whipcord in a tight hard-surfaced weave that blocks wind fairly well.
