Dec 14, 2013 · Already have a 7.5" SBR AR in 6.8SPC, MP5-K, SBR Kriss Vector, 7.5" SBR AK, and now looking to build an SBR in 308. It is much easier to add a stock to a pistol then cut a barrel down. The DSA FAL 8.25" pistol looks to be a good candidate.

To fix an overgassed FAL, one must reduce the amount of gas getting to the gas piston. (Stay tuned for further brilliant insights.) The easiest way to do this is by modifying the gas plug that channels gas through the gas block to the head of the piston.

Aug 23, 2011 · The FAL runs better with more gas and the shorter the barrel gets, the less gas you have. They have an adjustable gas block on them but from all the accounts I've heard, they are finicky when you get shorter than 16".

Most SBR FALs seem to use 11" barrels, but I went with 13" in the interests of reliability. The longer the bullet stays in the barrel after gas starts feeding into the gas system, the longer the gas has to push on the piston.

Aug 2, 2002 · Has anyone built a 14.5 inch FAL with a regular gas system? I'd like to SBR one, and the prevalent trend seems to be with the short gas system. I don't like short sight radius, and handguards though.
