I have had it happen, when pullets or chicks are sleeping in the nest, fill it will poop, and then a layers go in there to lay and move them all around. If I get that, I immediately clean the nests - and set it up so the pullets do not sleep in there.

Feb 14, 2017 · The only thing I would add to Wyorp Rock's excellent post is that it might be a good idea to give her a bath in warm water to clean any egg/poop off her vent/feathers if she is soiled as it will attract attention from flock mates and flies at this time of year. Use a little unscented soap and gentle massage to break down any clumps.

Jul 9, 2019 · In hot weather they drink a lot. The result is watery poop. Provide shade for the chickens, a shaded area for dust bathing and keep waterers in the shade. My girls like to dust bathe under the raised coops.. The shaded dirt helps to cool them too. GC

Mar 9, 2023 · Normally, an egg bound hen will not be able to produce normal poop. However, a watery, poopy discharge, often quite smelly, is present. If you ever suspect a hen is egg bound , immediately give them a calcium supplement, calcium citrate or carbonate, pill form directly into the beak to stimulate contractions.
