EL84 Push Pull 25-30 watts - diyAudio
Sep 18, 2010 · The only way I can see of getting 25W from a quad of EL84s is to drive them into class AB2. Data sheet shows 17W per pair in class B, so AB2 should be good for over 22W and less than 34W. Hmmm.
28 watts from a pair of el84's. Is this even possible?
Aug 19, 2013 · The easiest way to do AB2 is to use a driver tube as a cathode follower to feed the power tube grids direct connected, ie no blocking cap, after the PI. The driver cathode follower allows the power tube to draw much more current than in AB1, so more power.

Slowly building three Baby Huey EL84 - with notes - diyAudio
Aug 16, 2020 · to fully drive the EL84 I need around 25 Vpp (a bit more if I want to reach AB2) up to ten times (to be conservative) the bandwidth, so 200 kHz, so slewrate will be: 2 x pi x f x V = 2 x 3,14 x 200 kHz x 25 = 31,4 V/us
Grid stopper resistors and screen resistors...clarification - EL34 World
Mar 7, 2017 · 6L6 has an AB2 rating. It shows 14V positive peaks, which seems to be (from 807 data) 20mA peak grid current, which is in the ballpark of the 0.1W-0.2W grid power specified (on 807) for AB2 use.
Effect of lower G2, EL84 PP - diyAudio
Feb 26, 2013 · I tried with EL84's, PCL82's and 6V6's. I also tried something halfway, i.e. a shared small resistor + a number of 5W zener diodes in series to fairly regulate the G2 supply. This simple solution was already a good improvement.
EL84 - Wikipedia
The EL84 is a vacuum tube of the power pentode type. It is used in the power-output stages of audio amplifiers, most commonly now in guitar amplifiers, but originally in radios. The EL84 is smaller and more sensitive than the octal 6V6 that was …
Question About EL84 in Single Ended Mode - Telecaster Guitar …
Dec 6, 2007 · This is classic class A operational setup for a single EL84. 50ma is the maximum recommended sustained plate dissipation for the EL84 in SE Pentode operation. We should remember that it is class AB1/2, Class B and Class C amps which "idle", relative to absolute current draw, whilst Class A amps are always-on, full-tilt current sinks, no matter ...
My EL84 SE amp schematic - Any suggestions? - Audiokarma …
Nov 25, 2020 · If you want to go push pull then ideally you want to use class A. But that will not give you more power than Parallel SE. Main reason Push Pull came into vogue was the cheaper construction and running in AB / AB1 /AB2 or class B which looses fine details at low levels. (manufacturers making more money - more power for the same amount)
Two tube class a2 se trioded el84 with 12dw7 cathode ... - diyAudio
Jan 31, 2012 · Would it be ok to run a trioded 6bq5/el84 in class a2? If so would a 12au7 cathode follower source enough current to do it? The idea is to try a very simple two tube amp with the 12au7 side of a 12dw7 configured as a cathode follower to drive the grid of the el84. ~Austin
