I did feel like “Daj, Boże” wasn’t meant to be exactly literal here, but I’m confused as to how the phrase talks about the future, when the past tense verb (doczekali) is used. Is there an implied, missing particle, as in something like, “Daj, Boże, [żebyśmy] za rok doczekali”?

Feb 2, 2015 · My grandpa always said "daj boża" (daj being pronounced like english die, not sure if the spelling is right) whenever there was a toast. Again, I'm not sure that's how it's spelled. How I spelled it was a guess.

Jul 14, 2022 · It’s actually Daj Boze. And it’s a Polish cheers meaning “God willing” which is a theistic cheers for “In good health”. It’s something Ryan’s grandpa would say all the time after learning it from his friends before he left Croatia.

Prosta stvar, ako nemas nacin da garantovano napravis vise od 6,5% godisnje i da pritom imas pare pri ruci za ne daj Boze, onda da. Ja to licno vidim kao zgodno mesto da drzim novac koji odvajam za ucesce za stan recimo, jer mi se cini da je trziste nekretnina u nekoj frenzy fazi, plus ne zelim u ovom trenutku da ulazim u kredit.
