New York 's 55th State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Samra Brouk since 2021, succeeding Republican Rich Funke. [3] District 55 covers parts of Monroe and Ontario Counties, including the eastern half of Rochester and many of its eastern and northern suburbs. [1][4]

Samra Brouk (born May 20, 1986) is an American politician from the state of New York. A Democrat, Brouk has represented the 55th district of the New York State Senate, which is based in Rochester and its eastern suburbs, since January 2021. [1]

Senator Brouk serves as Chair of the Senate Mental Health Committee and is working to revolutionize New York State’s mental health and substance abuse crisis response so that those in need receive compassionate, therapeutic care.
