The adoption of 5G technology will be a key driver of economic growth in Malaysia. With an estimated RM150 billion GDP impact and 750,000 high skilled jobs created in 2030, 5G will drive efficiencies, increase productivity, and create new opportunities throughout the entire economy.

Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) ditubuhkan pada tahun 2021 untuk melaksanakan misi dan visi selaras dengan Rangka Tindakan Digital Ekonomi Malaysia (MyDIGITAL). Mempercepat pelaksanaan rangkaian 5G di Malaysia.

Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican was appointed as DNB's Chairman of the Board effective 20 May 2024. He is currently the Secretary General of Treasury, Ministry of Finance. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Secretary General (Policy) at the Ministry of Finance since March 2022.

Nov 10, 2021 · Before Malaysia officially launches 5G services by the end of this year, Digital Nasional Berhad has announced its completion of trial integration with local telcos. DNB claims this is the world’s first 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) trial integration with more than two mobile network operators (MNO).

Oct 16, 2021 · By 2024, DNB aims to achieve 80% coverage in populated areas, faster than the time taken to roll out the 4G network. In fact, in the attempt to narrow the digital divide, DNB will also begin covering parts of Sabah and Sarawak beginning 2022.

KUALA LUMPUR, 02 JANUARY 2023 – Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) is pleased to announce that Malaysia’s 5G network has achieved almost 50% coverage of populated areas (COPA) with some 3,900 sites as at end-2022 – comfortably exceeding the target of 40%.

Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican telah dilantik sebagai Pengerusi Lembaga Pengarah DNB berkuat kuasa 20 Mei 2024. Beliau kini merupakan Ketua Setiausaha Perbendaharaan di Kementerian Kewangan. Sebelum pelantikan tersebut, beliau berkhidmat sebagai Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha (Dasar) di Kementerian Kewangan sejak Mac 2022.
