Feb 23, 2013 · Was my first (of many now) 4 stroke after being a ‘Militant’ 2 stroke guy for ever. Bike is astonishingly stable, has tractor like grunt for trails and Sand. So easy to ride fast, it’s deceptive. I thought my 2 stroke 250’s were fast/nice, ( 2-RM250’s and a YZ250 with cylinder and head work), but the 03 CRF450R made them seem slow.

Mar 22, 2019 · I OR'd a CRF450R for a a couple of years. It was pretty good in the fast, flowy stuff, especially faster whoops, but when the trail was littered with rock, it deflected a ton. And, this was after a lot of expensive suspension tuning. I recall one steep, rocky hill in San Diego that I had to just pin it and float over everything.

Feb 13, 2006 · i read some of what was postd above, but for an 04-08 crf450 the minimum spec compression is 78psi. that is with the throttle held WFO. you will get a little lower reading not holding the throttle side open.. so hold it open..! and you have to kick it hard, not a wimpy kick. do it a few times till as others said, the gauge stops climing.

Nov 21, 2006 · Yeah, twist the throttle a few times and you're golden. Having your jetting dialed is a no brainer.. If I'm riding on a cold day, I kick the engine through slowly a few times, twist the throttle 3 - 4 times, pull the choke and give it a good kick, it usually fires on the 1st kick.

Jun 15, 2010 · Few weeks ago I rode Red River (trails from Redbull Last Man Standing) in Texas in 100 degree heat. My bike handled the heat no problem while my friends identical 07 CRF450R was running hot and my other buddies YZ450f boiled over. You have to completely drain you system (use the bolt on the water pump cover with the copper washer).
