The Clan Macrae is a Highland Scottish clan. The clan has no chief; it is therefore considered an armigerous clan. The surname Macrae (and its variations) is an anglicisation of the patronymic from the Gaelic personal name MacRaith. This personal name means "son of grace". [1]

Kilduich or Clachan Duich as it is now known is the ancient Church and burial Ground of Kintail, dedicated to St. Dubhthach c. 1050, though probably in use three centuaries earlier. It is situated near the inland head of Loch Duich in the parish of Kintail.
