Cedar Bog is located in Champaign County, Ohio, United States, near the city of Urbana. Groundwater from the Mad River Valley and the Urbana Outwash percolate through hundreds of feet of gravel left behind by the glacier in the Teays River.

Although Cedar Bog covers only 450 acres, it’s regarded as Ohio’s largest and best boreal and fen complex and boasts the greatest plant diversity of any place in the state, harboring an amazing 40 percent of the rare and endangered plant species in Ohio.

Cedar Bog contains representation from 30 to 40 percent of Ohio’s native plant population and 40 percent of its rare and endangered plant species, including both the largest and smallest orchid species in North America.
