Tripper, the only real information I can find on pricing is from what the dealers want (highway robbery--$40K) and on the Ritchie Bros auction results pages. From there it looks like an early '80s D6D goes for about $15-25K.

Jan 4, 2020 · I have a 1980 D6D that runs well. Have not had any issues. Lately I can run for a couple of hours and unit will go to a crawl and eventually stop. Can idle a few minutes and it will move again but not at full speed. Engine rpms and hydraulics are all still operating normal. Need some guidance on what the problem could be. RDowling

Mar 26, 2012 · i would recommend cat oils for your machine if a dealer is near by. engine 15w/40 trans sae 30 hyd cat hyd fluid final drives sae 50. dependant on ambient temp range. oil change interval. eng 250 hrs trans 1000 hrs hyd 2000 hrs f/drives 2000 hrs may need to change more often depending on work conditions. the above is standard cat recommendations.

Apr 8, 2022 · I have an 85 cat D6d with 3306 and the sleeve metering style injection pump with pencil nozzles. The pump will not stay primed. I can get the machine to run by priming the hand pump and it clears out and runs fine eventually. I have installed a new hand primer pump.
