Karl (カール, Kāru?) is the pet raccoon of Edgar Allan Poe. He has pointed ears. Black and white fur can be seen around his eyes. Most of his body is covered with thick brown fur. Black stripes can be seen around his tail, similar to of ring-tailed cats. He is shown to be an affectionate pet as he doesn't mind being held by others. [1] .

In the 2012 film The Raven there was a raccoon included named Carl. The real Edgar Allan Poe never had a pet raccoon, but in The Raven they had the raccoon and had literary significance behind it. But the literary significance wasn’t from Poe, but from Karl Marx!
