Cadia is 100% owned by Newcrest through its wholly owned subsidiary, Cadia Holdings Pty Ltd. The Cadia East mine is operating, and the Ridgeway mine is not operational but remains subject to maintenance requirements.

Jan 30, 2013 · The Cadia East Underground gold and copper mine is the first Australian panel cave and the country's largest underground mine, with significant ore reserves and a projected lifespan of more than 30 years. The Cadia Hill gold-copper porphyry deposit was discovered by Newcrest Mining Limited in 1992.

Cadia is one of Australia’s largest gold and copper mining operations with ore reserves of 17 Moz of gold and 3.6 Mt of copper. Two-stage plant expansion project is complete, allowing for activities to focus now on mine development of PC2-3.

Our site comprises the Cadia East underground mine, which is one of the largest gold and copper deposits in the world. Cadia East commenced commercial production in January 2013 and uses the large-scale mining method known as panel caving.

Cadia is the second largest open cut mine in Australia after the Super Pit at Kalgoorlie. Large mineral deposits are also being uncovered from the more recently developed Ridgeway underground mine, and Cadia East underground mine, adjacent to the Cadia Open Cut Mine.

Cadia East mine is a part of the Cadia Valley Operations and is one of the largest gold and copper deposits in the world, and the second largest gold mine in Australia. Today, Cadia operations are principally focused on the Cadia East deposit.

The Cadia East–Far East deposit occupies a mineralised zone 2.5 km in strike length, 600 m in width and over 1,900 m in vertical extent. It is located below and to the east of the Cadia Hill deposit.

Cadia East is located 20km SW of Orange, on the eastern edge of the Cadia Hill ore-body, within the Cadia mineralised corridor. The deposit is a porphyry style gold-copper mineralisation extending up to 2.5km east of the Cadia Hill open cut.

Cadia East and Cadia Far East, are exploited by the Cadia East mine. Together they extend SE to ESE over an interval of ~2500 m in strike length, 200 to 300 m in width and >1900 m in vertical extent, plunging to the SE. It is located to the east of, and structurally below the Cadia Hill deposit.

The Cadia East underground gold mine is a large panel cave mine, the first of its kind to be developed in Australia and one of the largest gold mines in the world with a production rate of 27 million tonnes of ore a year.
