CPU_FAN vs CPU_OPT vs AIO_PUMP : r/buildapc - Reddit
CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT share the same PWM fan control signal. That is intended for double fan coolers (think NH-D15 or Dark Rock Pro). Can be used for case fans, but modern CPUs can have large temperature reactions to load shifts - that makes fans ramp up and down all the time.
Should I plug my AIO pump into CPU Fan, CPU Opt or Sys Fan?
Feb 10, 2022 · You shouldn't be recommending first time builder to plug in the pump into CPU Fan header. In the absence of dedicated PUMP header which runs at 100%, one should use CPU_OPT and adjust fan curve to constant speed.
