The ALCO FA is a family of B-B diesel locomotives designed to haul freight trains. The locomotives were built by a partnership of ALCO and General Electric in Schenectady, New York, between January 1946 and May 1959.

The MLW RSC-24 was a type of diesel-electric locomotive built by Montreal Locomotive Works for use on the Canadian National Railway (CN). Only four RSC-24s were built – all in 1959. [1] They were numbered 1800–1803 by CN.

Owing to CN's habit of renumbering Motive Power on a regular basis, I have decided to arrange this roster using CN's classification for each group of engines, which in itself has its flaws owing to CN's other habit of reclassifying Motive Power.

On the CNR, ALCO and MLW switchers built between 1947 and 1950 were delivered in the black paint scheme with large Morency orange side panels (CNR Orange No 10).

Montreal Locomotive Works (Alco) S-13 CN #8504 CN 8504 in the Montreal area in the mid-70s, probably on the way to their Taschereau Yard. It was built by Montreal Locomotive Works (Alco) in 1959, as part of Order 4112 which encompassed 23 locomotives (8500-8522) in Class MS-10q (for Montreal Switcher 1000hp) S-13 locomotives.

Pictured here is an example of Alco's "World Locomotive", 1800-horsepower cousin to Montreal Locomotive Works's FPA-4 passenger power. Introduced in 1953, most "World Locomotives" were powered by Alco's 251B V12 engine and rode atop six-wheel trucks.
