Peng Liyuan (Chinese: 彭丽媛; pinyin: Péng Lìyuán; born 20 November 1962) is a Chinese contemporary folk singer and the wife of Xi Jinping, current General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and President of China.

The CCP makes it known that women are appointed on the same ground as male leaders - age, education, CCP membership and experience. That said, there still exists considerable gender disparities when selecting provincial leaders in China.
