Feb 26, 2010 · C5 Z06 wins because it is not just another base model corvette. the C6 roadster might be newer, ride a little nicer, and have more options, but It is just a base model corvette. the Z06 is elite. If you are buying it for the DD experience then it doesn't matter which one you get.

And while it's relatively easy to get z06 performance from the base, I'd just go with the z06 -- if you can afford it, and you're going with a hard top, I'd go z06 all day (also assuming you're going with a 2002 or newer/ 405 ...

Tons of little tweaks make the Z06 a more engaging and visceral experience vs the regular C5. They’re completely different animals. But if you have plans to mod, all of that goes out the window.

I had a 1999 coupe and a 2001 z06.. the z06 is not technically that much different than the coupe yet....the ownership experience was much different.. The C5 coupe was a great GT car...while the Z06 really was a hell of a race car for the street..
