I used the old .257/120 from a Roberts on two white tails, same box of bullets, on behaved like a varmint ballistic tip and barely penetrated on one deer, the other deer took four rounds, and the autopsy showed no sign of expansion. .25” holes all the way through.

Feb 21, 2010 · It sounds like a much modified rifle, with the barrel has been rebored and the stock isn't original. Yes, all 725 were factory d&t with 4 holes on the top of the receiver, the same hole pattern as the Remington 721, 722, and 700.

May 30, 2022 · Every pressure test of bullet-seating depth in rifles I've seen (including while in a couple of pressure labs) has shown pressures don't rise with bullets seated deeper until they're at least 1/4 inch deeper than maximum overall length--and often the rise doesn't even start until they're seated 1/2" deeper.
