Jul 12, 2021 · Those are two classic BOSS pedals, but they're very different. It wasn't, and still isn't, marketed that way, but I'd point to the OD-3 an early example of an amp-in-a-box design. It works really well to give you a solid overdriven sound, that reacts very much like an amp, when played into a very clean amp.

Mar 27, 2017 · When I just had the RV7, I considered the Boss RV6, MXR, Immerse, and Context. The Context was mono, so I eliminated that. The Immerse had reports of not working that well for ambient. So I was between the MXR and Boss. Ultimately, I liked the clips of the boss a bit better and it was cheaper. Been very happy with the Boss RV6.

Feb 13, 2025 · Boss doesn’t work the same way as, say, Helix or Amplifire, where turning off the cab sim (e.g., a V30) and running it through a real V30 speaker gave you a nearly identical tone. I think this is because turning off the cab sim also removes the entire AIRD technology—Boss’s signature approach to amp-to-speaker interaction.
