The BBQ+ Academic Fellowship Program is a core component of our initiatives, providing mentorship, career development advice, and writing support to underrepresented scholars (broadly and intersectionally defined) as they establish themselves either within academic institutions or as independent educators and researchers.

Each year, we welcome a new group of scholars to the BBQ+ academic fellowship program. The fellowship fosters ongoing relationships between the fellows and BBQ+ that continue after the academic year is done, and past cohorts remain an integral part of the BBQ+ community.

At BBQ+, we create innovative open educational resources that add crucial voices to the conversation and enhance the current educational landscape — from K-12 to higher education to community and nontraditional settings.

The BBQ+ Pedagogy Lab launched in 2020 under the leadership of Dr. Caitlin Gunn. The Lab is a speculative space where educators of all kinds collaboratively envision and create new futures for their teaching, their students, and education as a whole.

The ideas behind BBQ+ started to form back in 2012 when Professor Ahmed Ragab, then the Richard T. Watson Assistant Professor of Science and Religion at Harvard Divinity School, founded the Science, Religion, and Culture program (SRC).
