SD40-2 #8070 - standard BN green paint with round BNSF nose logo instead of stripes and smaller than normal "BNSF" patched on cab side. SD40-2 #6364 and SD60M #9226- patched from BN whiteface scheme with no "BN" on nose.

By the end of 2004, the BNSF on-line store was offering hats, glasses, shirts and jackets, etc., only with the new "swoosh" logo. I am in the process of designing a logo for my new model railroad, which will depict a fictional BNSF Intermodal facility near Rochelle, Illinois. I was hoping to be able to use part of the BNSF logo or some form of it as part of my logo (the facility is called 'Rochelle Intermodal').

Oct 28, 2024 · BNSF Railway H3 logo on an H1 body, (GE built) C44-9W # BNSF 965, delivered July, 1996. Now wearing the updated H3 "swoosh" logo across its nose now for close to 10 years! Amazing how quickly the "new" logo has become the dominant/withstanding logo of this near 30 year old corporation.

The new BNSF logo has started to appear next the doors on the ex-CB&Q gallery cars still serving for Metra. My train this morning had recently shopped coach 783 with the logo. Looks nice against the stainless steel.

Both the Santa Fe font and the derivative BNSF typeface seem to have been drawn up specially for the railroads use. The fonts I "authored" were merely an extrapolation from the few characters BNSF uses in their herald. Please don't tell me its the "Cooper" font, because I know better.
