The Martin XB-51 was an American trijet ground-attack aircraft. It was designed in 1945 and made its maiden flight in 1949. It was originally designed as a bomber for the United States Army Air Forces under specification V-8237-1 and was designated XA-45.

A cantilever mid-wing monoplane with swept wings and tail surfaces, it was powered by three 2640kg thrust General Electric J47-GE-7 or -13 turbo-jets, one pylon-mounted low on each side of the forward fuselage and the third within the rear fuselage.

It was an excellent movie, and the XB-51 was cast as the Gilbert XF-120, an aircraft being tested at Edwards AFB in California. One of my most favorite aircraft.
