Dec 1, 2009 · The Audi OEM system in our cars is comprised of two units per lamp; an igniter within the lamp assembly, and a ballast outside the lamp. On US spec cars, the ballasts were located in two places - either on the inside edge of the lamp assemblies (mid-2000 and newer) and behind / below the lamps (early 2000 FL cars).
