From April 1970 the 100 LS could be ordered with a three-speed automatic transmission sourced from Volkswagen. Although the Audi 100's engines were considered 'rough', critics stated that buyers whose first car had been a Beetle and aspired to upgrade to a contemporary diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz were unlikely to be discouraged. Here is a 1972 Audi 100LS. This is very much an original car. I have done nothing to change the look and feel of this car but I have modified somethings to make it more comfortable. I installed a new stereo in the glove box to keep the look of an old car.

This specific car was a showroom car for Audi of Henderson, V (see first and last pictures). Sold with the car are three genuine Audi press releases dated October 29th, 971. The exterior is theoriginal 1972 paint that came with the car and remains in great condition.

This 1973 Audi 100 LS was purchased new by the seller on June 29, 1973, from Green Motors Porsche Audi in Norwalk, California. The car is finished in Agate Brown over tan cloth upholstery and powered by a 1.9-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle.

The 100 was also known as the 200 (higher trim level), and the 5000 (U.S. Market). The Audi 100 was built in four generations: C1 (1968-1976), C2 (1977-1982), C3 (1983-1990), and C4 (1991-1994). The most notable 100 variant was the original Audi S4 (C4). The 100 would later evolve into the Audi A6.

Dec 20, 2024 · The rise of Audi in North America, for a peddler of the intriguing-but-flawed 100LS to the top-notch 5000 of the 1980s is fascinating. Hardly anyone could have guessed how the brand would soar (and then fall again, of course) by looking at this featured car.
