Atsushi Nakajima (中 なか 島 じま 敦 あつし, Nakajima Atsushi?) is a member of the Armed Detective Agency who possesses the ability Beast Beneath the Moonlight. Atsushi has light gray hair, pale skin, and is of average height with a slim build.

Besides this, there are many other things that mark their oppositeness and their duality to each other: Atsushi is a member of the ADA, while Akutagawa is a member of the PM. Atsushi’s ability colour is blue, Akutagawa’s ability colour is red.

It was probably easier to think of Atsushi as an object, a mark, someone who is defined by and reduced to his ability (Aku might do it a lot with his marks, it’s easier to finish off someone when you don’t think about them as a person).

The headmaster of the orphanage abused Atsushi in hopes that Atsushi would grow to hate him rather than himself when he was later kicked out of the orphanage. Atsushi lived most of his life without a clue that he was actually an ability user that could turn into a tiger and he only learned of his ability after he met Dazai Osamu and Kunikida Doppo.

Nakajima Atsushi succeeds in confronting and accepting Beast Beneath The Moonlight. Meanwhile, Akutagawa Ryunosuke and Izumi Kyoka are exhausted from fighting Shibusawa Tatsuhiko. Having regained his supernatural ability, Nakajima rushes to the pair's side to face the singularity that is Shibusawa.

What Atsushi wasn't expecting was for Mark to pick him up, backpack and all, and pull him close, burying his face in Atsushi's chest. “M-Mark-san!” he blurted out, desperately clinging onto Mark's shoulders.
