ALEXA 35 is the smallest fully featured ARRI production camera ever, packing the features and processing power of a larger ALEXA into a Mini-sized body that can record native 4K at up to 120 fps. The ALEXA Mini LF offers a wide choice of recording formats, among them 4.5K Open Gate and anamorphic Super 35 that fulfills 4K mandates. Multiple frame lines can be used simultaneously, including a vertical 9:16 crop for social media that takes full advantage of the tall ARRI sensor.

Choosing the 4K UHD recording format means that a 16:9 area from the sensor is read out, up-sampled in camera to a 4K UHD image and then recorded. In this case the recording format of 4K UHD is the same as the distribution format of 4K UHD.

ProRes: 3.2K and 4K UHD clips For these higher resolution formats we chose ProRes 4444 as our go-to codec, recording straight to Rec 709 color space. For reasons of simplicity we only recorded 25 fps sensor speed/25p project speed.
