In the Book of Mormon, Amalickiah (/ əˌmælɪˈkaɪ.ə / [3]) was a Nephite dissenter. His first appearance in the text is as a political dissident with aspirations to re-establish a monarchy. Later, after seizing the Lamanite throne, Amalickiah led a war to enslave the Nephites. After his death he was succeeded by his brother Ammoron.

In the Book of Mormon, a Nephite traitor who gained power among the Lamanites and led them against the Nephites (Alma 46–51).

Amalickiah incites the Lamanites against the Nephites—Moroni prepares his people to defend the cause of the Christians—He rejoices in liberty and freedom and is a mighty man of God.

Amalickiah was a leader of significant influence and notoriety in the Book of Mormon narrative, particularly known for his cunning and ambitions to become a monarch.

Amalickiah takes the Lamanites who are loyal to the king to the valley at the foot of mount Antipas, near Onidah, where the Lamanites who are reluctant to fight are gathered. Instead of attacking the peaceful Lamanites, Amalickiah chooses to trick them into joining him.

Jun 22, 2023 · A remote possibility, though hardly plausible, is a feminine form, ʿmlqyh, Amalekiah, “Amalekitess,” which would explain all the vowels and consonants (JH). It is possible that AMALICKIAH is related to A MALEKI, though the Book of Mormon consistently writes the latter with a “ k ” and the former with “ ck.” [1]
