The AEV 3 Kodiak is a Leopard 2 main battle tank (MBT) based armoured engineering vehicle that can be used for a wide variety of battlefield engineering, infrastructure and support roles. These roles can include, but would not be limited to, minefield breaching, route denial, dozing and digging tasks, and the erection or demolition of obstacles.

The AEV3 KODIAK combines modern engineering technology with the tried-and-tested components from the Leopard 2 battle tank. The AEV3 Kodiak has an articulated arm excavator in the middle of the vehicle, including further excavator tools, an adjustable bulldozer blade and a flexible winch system.

The AEV 3 is a heavy vehicle which falls into the MLC 70 class for traversing bridges or man-laid military bridges. The chassis is slightly longer than its Leopard 2 base chassis, having seven roadwheels instead of six.
