I recently purchased Age of Empires 2 (HD), and perhaps the first thing I noticed which is different to the original disk game, is that the AI seems incapable of mobilising troops in formation as the player can. This makes for a very poor attack as the AI forces reach my defences in a 'trickle', making them extremely easy too deal with.

Trying to setup AOE2 HD game in order to play over LAN. I have several laptops connected via wi-fi by using home router. I create game on first laptop and trying to connect from another one. Second laptop not finds first one hosted game. I suppose since I play on LAN, I don't need any additional tools like VPN in order to connect PC's.

Apr 27, 2013 · AoE 2 does have a mechanic that is similar to attack-move, called patrol. I believe you have to turn on advanced commands (F4 by default) in order to enable it. I like to call patrol "attack-move-in-circles", because that is essentially how it works. The patrol command lets you set waypoints with shift click, and is finalized with a right click.
