Simply googling it leads to ao3 tags on curses, so I'm curious what this actually is.

The "AO3 curse" is a joke about how often writers will put "sorry this chapter was late, [description of all the wild misfortunes in their life that have kept them from writing]" in their author's notes, with the joke being that having an ongoing fic on AO3 clearly causes all of the misfortunes.
