Sep 21, 2023 · As a 91e you are in the motor pool I'm in the s&r section. I was a machining and working with coding prior to the army. In my almost 3 years in I've met only one other person with prior exp. I've been tasked to make signs and othe arts and crafts projects.

Mar 30, 2021 · I’ve been thinking about going active duty, and if I do, to reclass to a 91E to weld in the army, because peace infantry active duty, I’ve heard, and I know... that just ain’t it, chief. Especially as a regular grunt, no ranger tab, not SF, just a regular, leg grunt. I’m currently at a tech school for welding as well.

Feb 25, 2014 · If you get to do your job, you're lucky (if thats what you really want to do). I was a 91E I. The MO guard, but reclassed to 11B. If you really don't want to be a welder/machinist, don't take the slot.

Jan 23, 2023 · I think they was an E5 for 6+ years bc the army has like 3 SSG welder positions in it and none of them ever died or retired. Pretty sure they eventually became a warrant. So probably some useful skills gained, idk how many certs or whatever they get. Definitely not the move for career progression based off what I saw though.

Jun 16, 2024 · You weld when it’s required I guess. Or at least that’s what I saw when I was a Bradley mechanic. We had two 91E’s assigned to our recovery section. You guys were essentially crew members on the recovery vehicle. Whether it’s the Hercules or the hemmt.

Jun 7, 2022 · 91E is basically a welder. They're really useful and it teaches you a good trade. Unit dependent on whether or not you will be utilized. For example: in an AVN BDE you're going to generally be treated like a 91B and have very little MOS related skills. But in a BSB you might be in your own welding shop doing your actual job.
